TOP 10 FAVOURITE PILBARA PLACES

With so much on our itinerary, choosing 10 favourites was near impossible, as there were so incredible places that we visited. But there were a few that were a really BIG HIT with myself and Justin. So, if I had to choose 10 these are the ones that would make my list of favourites while on our amazing Pilbara Adventure in May 2014.

All the best Alison

1. Red Gorge Tour

Absolutely awesome day, not just a highlight of 'My Pilbara Adventure' but a highlight of my life! To top it off as we enter the restaurant for dinner Pete gives a wristband USB with photos and videos of the day.

2. KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK

Circular Pool is just magnificent. The beauty, the height, waterfalls, delicate ferns, beautiful rocks and crystal clear water – speechless! Unbelievable how beautiful all of Karijini has been. It makes me sad to leave.

3. COMET GOLD MINE

What an interesting place, a Gem. Seriously a gem. They have so many gemstones and the jewellery is gorgeous. The purse had to come out. Trevor and Sue are so informative and talented. A really great stop.

4. DAMPIER ARCHIPELAGO

We dive down deep to see corals and various sponges. Very ... Very ... nice. Spent a relaxing day on the boat soaking up the atmosphere and chatting. Darn it, we better make our way back. Such beautiful experience.

5. CAPRICORN BAR & GRILL

The atmosphere here is great. A new menu was being launched this Friday and we were given the privilege of sampling a few of these new items. And what a privilege it was!! Absolutely delicious and revolutionary tastes.

6. ESPLANADE HOTEL

The Esplanade, breakfast was awesome, really big, no wonder they call it the big breakfast. Andrew Ziem the GM is such a nice guy, friendly and helpful. The Esplanade is such a beautiful place to stay with great food.

7. COURTHOUSE GALLERY

Courthouse Art gallery opened up especially for us in the morning so we could see the new exhibit. Wish I could get one and take it with me. It’s is the only dedicated gallery in the Pilbara.

8. NEWMAN VISITOR CENTRE

This visitor centre is so quirky, check out the newly-built chalets. Set amongst massive mining machinery, they are gorgeous self contained chalets with, what was described as the best ensuite you'll find in the Pilbara!

9. COSSACK & ROEBOURNE

I was surprised how much I enjoyed Cossack, the old stone buildings and history. We also stopped at Yinjaa-Barni Arts studio and met a few artists at work. Their work is fantastic! I'd love to take a piece home.

10. SOUL CAFE - KARRATHA

Beth from Soul is cool with that and sat down for a chat before the demands of running a very busy cafe called her away. There is a real buzz in here and it is busy. They also sell bags and jewellery at Soul - very nice.
